stream of consciousness, new moon eclipse style
The world is full of shadowy characters and energies. Some folks are more open to witnessing them than others.
But generally speaking, we’re trained pretty thoroughly since childhood to gloss over the unsightly stuff — particularly, to shame and minimize anything that conflicts with how we want to view the world, and ourselves.
It can be really difficult to integrate the destructive energies living in the shadows of human beings who only want to accept the existence of light and love.
A new moon eclipse does a bang up job of forcing us to see what we don’t want to see. When the nodes of the moon are involved in a conjunction of the sun and moon, it’s as if the celestial flashlight dims for a little longer than usual, and the shadows of humanity get more time to make themselves known.
This can and will manifest in events “out there.” Alas, “Holy shit! Did you hear what happened in such and such place? Wild!” But I’m more interested in what’s happening inside of us individually right now.
I believe that collective transformation comes from an individual who is willing to do their healing work - a willingness to learn how to hold the tension of realizing there are aspects within them that aren’t nice, pretty or fun.
See, what we don’t own within us manifests “out there.” A simple example is when you get jacked up about someone’s behaviour, and then after some courageous inner digging, realize you did the exact same thing to your partner the day before.
This is the truth of the human experience: the unconscious aspects of our psyches show up in our relationships and experiences.
I want us to learn how to do difficult things - to accept the unconscious, destructive nature within our psyches, and do away with shaming ourselves for not fitting unrealistic molds created by systems which, “extra! extra! read all about it! They full of shit!”
I know the reverberating effect of a human being, walking around less burdened by intrapsychic suffering after witnessing the shadowy aspects of their own psyche.
That person’s inner spaciousness impacts every single person, entity and thing they come into contact with. It’s powerful AF.
Enter an eclipse: a moment where we can get the inside track on what’s been going on inside of us.
When there is less light shining on the earthly realm, the shadows dominate, providing an opportunity for us to witness their manifestations.
With eclipses, the nodes of the moon are involved. And they represent our future and our past.
So it’s a moment when the past and future collide with the present. Here’s the analogy:
Imagine if you suddenly tapped into your future. And you could sense who you were - how different you were (north node activation).
The culmination of all the things you haven’t done as of yet were felt within you, while you’re still living here, with present day consciousness, and with present day life experiences to tend to.
You feel so dang overwhelmed because you cannot precisely piece together the steps it took to get to that point in the future, or how you will possibly be able to complete all the tasks it will take to become that future version of you.
On top of that, you’re keenly tapped into the past (south node activation) - you’re getting hits of memories about moments that shaped you in some intense way (suffering does that).
So you’re accessing the future, yet stuck in the past, while living in the present, which if I might add, is a pretty f***ing insane place to be.
Tell me that’s not an intense vibe to be trying to hold within your body and mind.
So yeah. A daunting, intense time energetically. And crazy shit might happen. Cuz it’s hard for human beings to hold these energies. It’s difficult to feel so much at one time.
And it can feel like things are being uprooted, cause they are - the depths of the past are colliding with the present. And the future. And they are changing as a result.
All that said - I don’t believe any of this is a bad thing. There’s a lot of potential in this moment.
If our obsession with light can’t distract us from the truth of our shadows, then we have no choice but to face them, integrate them, and free ourselves of constantly dwindling our inner resources by attempting to escape them.
Things come out of the shadows that we need to know about during an eclipse.
If something required healing, you’d need to know that it exists in order to heal it. In fact, I know someone who had a weird health experience during last years eclipse, which alerted her to a more serious issue she was then able to heal.
Sure, things can get weird. If you’re feeling called to your past, you’re on point. And if your tech isn’t working (eclipses are known to skew tech, too) throw it away and get a land line.
OK I’m joking. But also kinda not joking. Take your shoes off and stand on a patch of grass or dirt.
Whatever happens, be open to what this temporary experience can teach you about what really matters, to you.
We’ve got an opportunity right now to pull ourselves out of denial about some things that have been impeding the practical necessities of life. Stuff that’s been holding us back from doing what we need to do.
Essentially, we can learn some stuff about how we trip ourselves up. And we can use what we learn to set some intentions for the next 6 months, too.
